What is the best time to do the Spiti Valley Circuit?
May to October, when the high passes are open. June to September offers the most reliable road conditions; late September and October bring crisp skies and golden landscapes.
Do I need a permit for Spiti?
Indian nationals don’t need a permit for most of the circuit. Foreign nationals need an Inner Line Permit for the stretch near the border — we arrange all required permits for you.
Is this trip suitable for beginners?
Yes. It’s a road trip with short optional walks, rated moderate mainly because of altitude. We plan gradual acclimatisation and carry oxygen support.
What kind of accommodation is provided?
A mix of comfortable hotels, local homestays and lakeside camps, on twin sharing. Single rooms can be arranged on request at an extra cost.
Can we do this trip in our own vehicle?
Yes — we offer a self-drive format with a lead vehicle, route support and all stays booked. Get in touch and we’ll share the details.
What about network connectivity?
Expect patchy coverage. BSNL and Jio usually work in Kaza and a few villages, but there are long stretches with no signal. Consider it a digital detox.
Is travel insurance necessary?
We strongly recommend a policy that covers high-altitude travel and medical evacuation. It’s not included in the trip price.
